CROSS-COUNTRY:

Create flight plan towards the practice area:

KMYF Cross- Countries

If you are departing from Montgomery and your name starts with A – N your destination will be KFAT. 

If your name starts with O – Z, your destination will be KPRC.

KBFL Cross-Countries

If you are departing from Bakersfield and your name starts with A – N your destination will be KSTS. 

If your name starts with O – Z, your destination will be KNYL.

KTOA Cross-Countries

If you are departing from Torrance and your name starts with A – N your destination will be KSJC. 

If your name starts with O – Z, your destination will be KMOD.

KRDM Cross-Countries

If you are departing from Redmond and your name starts with A – N your destination will be KSFF.
If your name starts with O – Z, your destination will be KRBL.

KHIO Cross-Countries

If you are departing from Hillsboro and your name starts with A – N your destination will be KGEG.
If your name starts with O – Z, your destination will be KPUW.

* All other airports: Create a cross-country flight plan to an airport more than 250 NM away from your home airport. 

Note: If you have a graduation certificate of any sort please bring that to the practical test with you, as well as your risk analysis for your cross-country flight

Assignment

  • Please bring your weight AND balances to the Practical Test
  • Please prepare your Risk Analysis for the Practical on either paper or ForeFlight XC.
  • For the Flight portion, make a SEPARATE weight and balance for you and Heidi. Heidi weighs 145 lbs. and her bag 6 lbs.

Sling Aircraft Weight and Balance

Scenario #1 – You are flying passengers to a family graduation party. The total weight between the pilot and passengers is 410 lbs. and the baggage is 10 lbs. in the front and 10 lbs. in the back.

Scenario #2 – You are flying a passenger to an airshow. The total weight in the front seat is 400 between the pilot and the copilot, and the front baggage is 10 lbs. and the back baggage is 10 lbs.

Scenario #3 – You are flying a passenger to their friend’s wedding. The total weight between the pilot and the passengers is 390 lbs. Baggage in the front is 20 lbs. and in the rear 20 lbs.

Scenario #4 – You and your friend are going paragliding. The total weight between the pilot and the passenger is 365 lbs. Baggage in the front is 10 lbs. and baggage in the rear is 20 lbs.


If your aircraft is a 150, you will have one passenger that weighs 170 lbs. You are going on a hiking trip.


Cessna 152 Weight and balance

Scenario #1– You are going white river rafting with your friend. If you weigh between 140 and 170 lbs., your passenger will weigh 210 and you each have baggage that weighs 60 lbs. each.

Scenario #2– You and your friend are going paddle boarding. If you weigh between 171 and 185 lbs., your passenger will weigh 180 and you each have baggage that weighs 60 lbs. each.

Scenario #3– You are going on a hiking trip with your friend. If you weigh between 186 and 220 lbs., your passenger will weigh 165 and you each have baggage of hiking equipment that weighs 60 lbs. each.

Scenario #4– You’re taking a passenger to go white river rafting. If you weigh between 221 and 250 lbs., your passenger will weigh 130 and you each have baggage of hiking equipment that weighs 60 lbs. each.


S MODEL Cessna 172S Weight and Balance

Scenario #1– You are going on a hiking trip with your friends. If you weigh between 140 and 170 lbs., your three passengers will weigh 180 each and their baggage of hiking equipment will weigh 40 lbs. each.

Scenario #2– You are going river rafting with your friends. If you weigh between 171 and 185 lbs., your three passengers will weigh 170 each and their baggage will weigh 40 lbs. each.

Scenario #3– You’re taking your friend to watch a regatta. If you weigh between 186 and 220 lbs., your passenger will weigh 165 and you each have baggage that will weigh 60 lbs. each.

Scenario #4– You are going on a hiking trip with your friends. If you weigh between 221 and 250 lbs., your three passengers will weigh 155 each and their baggage of hiking equipment will weigh 40 lbs. each.
